Question
Selling your house to rent back, BuyFast/ Gary Latham? U.K. answers only please.?
Hi, I have recently completed the sale of my house to a company called Buyfast Ltd. Mr Gary Latham, the landlord came out to see me initially before I proceeded and assured me that I could rent for as long as necessary from him and I signed a shorthold lease agreement for a term of 6 months initially as he said this was normal and that once he had established that I am a good payer of my rent he would extend my term to a year at a time. I have received an email today from a surveyors asking to book an appointment with me to value the house. The sale was completed last week and the payout has been issued and therefore I am now renting from Mr Latham. Why would he be needing a survey now AFTER the sale has gone through? The only reason I can think of he is looking to sell it on and i've been done up like an idiot? Anyone think of another reason for this or had any dealings with Buy Fast or Gary Latham? Please advise as I cant call until the morning and I am worried sick. Thank you. 2 Please dont tell me how silly I was, things were pretty desperate.

It sounds like you answered your own question. If you were desperate and you sold -- you did the right thing. So what if you could have gotten a better deal if you waited? The point is you took care of business and got that load off your back. Now you can enjoy your life again. As far as being able to live where you are? I wouldn't count on it if he's having it appraised. In fact, he'll probably have it back on the market the day your six months deal runs up. Sorry, but it's true and your instinct is telling you (that's why you're worried). It's obvious he'll sell it. What else would he do with a company called Buyfast? Don't think you were suckered, think that you did what you needed to do. Start looking forward not back, and as far as recompense, there's nothing the law can help you with. You did the right thing.
