Question

I'm really good with cars, and..?

I was thinking of being a car dealer after high school, and saving up all my money to go into business with a friend and invest in buying a mobile home park. After that, life is easy. Until then, I need a job, some way to make money. I'd like to go into a career in the auto industry. I own an auto detailing shop now, but only make $160/day on only the days I work, which are about three days a week on average. I thought about detailing for local car dealers and whatnot, on account of I really like what I do, have all the equipment and everything, mostly do high-end Mercedes/BMW/Range Rover. I have been offered many jobs at various car dealerships, both local BMW and Mercedes-Benz dealerships based on my successful vocal marketing techniques and knowledge of cars in general. I could pretty much sell water to a well lol. But idk if car dealers make $40k/year, which is what I need at minimum to pay for my investment. So I though finance manager or sales manager, but not sure what I need for school. I also contemplated a mechanic, but I'm more the service advisor type lol. Any suggestions?

You said you make $160.00 a day. Do you only detail one car in a day? If you do more than one you should make a lot more than that. You also said you do a lot of high end details so you should be making even more based on that. Your in high school and already have your own detail shop. If that's true I would say your doing pretty darn well for yourself already! I am in high school and only do mobile detailing out of the back of my DD. As far as the dealership work goes you are going to need a at least a high school diploma to do anything there; some jobs such as a finance manager are going to require more education.

well. im also very good at cars.... dont go into business with family/friends... belive me, you dont want to to ruin a relations ship.. i dont see how buying a mobile home park helps any, but you need togo to college.. especially with the way things are going now, you need every edge on the competition you can get.... also, you may "own" your car detailing business, but thats b/c its not legit. you most likely get paid cash and dont pay taxes.. your making money now, but not what you need to survive and do what you want.. go to college... continue to work some and make pocket money... then, and only then will/can you do what you want
