Question
Improving restaurant sales?
I am looking for any advice to be given on the restaurant business. Due to the current economic climate, much of this industry seems to be suffering including a restaurant I work for. I would really appreciate any advice that could be given on good ways to improve sales. The restaurant is Modern Japanese. It can be a little pricey but the quality and presentation of food along with the service is outstanding. I have even eaten there as a customer and it simply is lovely. So I'm thinking about promotions, advertising and so on which could help boost the restaurants sales and reputation. I look forward to hearing peoples suggestions, so many thanks in advance.

I worked for a photograpic studio and they talked to a couple of restuarants where these restaurants would give out coupons for free family pictures, or individual pictures depending on how much they spent, depending on the type of restuarant, for a real fancy one, $50 spent and customers would recieve a free family photo shoot. Something like that is what you could do, not necessarily with pictures, but something else, perhaps something that goes with the restaurant, or not. Such as, a free appetizer for next time, or start a frequent customer card...customers love free stuff and after a wonderful meal and a great time, recieving something at the end is what makes them go, "this is the place to come." You could try it at the beginning of the meal as well, something like, certain menus could go with some free stuff, half an appetizer, or dessert...something!

Free glass of saki for diners with every pre booked table. stretch that to a cheap bottle of wine & you may get loads of bookings but then they may not drink as much but if you said free bottle of wine for every booking over 4 heads then one bottle of wine lasts 5 mins & they would be in the mood to eat & drink more thus squeezing more out of your booked diners. you could offer a free glass of wine on reception to anyone walking in off the street for a meal that could be quite enticing the theme is basically give away something cheap just to get them through the door & then charge as normal. topless waitresses might go down nicely with the lads.....lol
