Question

How do I start my own e commerce website/internet store?

I am interested in setting up my own e commerce website/store so I don't have to pay the huge eBay fees anymore. I have never done anything like this before. Does anyone have any recommendations on the best (and most affordable) way to do this and how to build my own website? Also, how do I contact Google so that when someone types in a particular search, my store will pop up? Any advice would be greatly appeciated, preferably from those who've done this successfully before. Thank you!

First you build the website, you can use pagebreeze if you know html, or sitebuilder if you dont. Most hosts offer sitebuilder (send me a message if you need a host, my friend hosts websites cheaper than any other company) Then you add paypal buttons, google checkout buttons, or a credit card checkout system to it. You will have to shop around for credit card systems, theres many different companies that offer it. For paypal/google checkout you need to know basic html and you go on paypals site for example and choose "create buttons" to make your buttons. Keep in mind that there are millions of professional websites for each topic. They all want to be on the first page of Google. This takes a lot of hard work, so you would have to advertise at first, since most of your visitors will not come from Google for at least many months to years. I have over 30 websites, majority of my visitors come from ads I set up. My older websites get visitors from Google and I have to continually build on them to keep that ranking. Google ranks large websites first. You need a large website, with lots of content (words, lots and lots of words and paragraphs and things like this). Just keep that in mind, because you cant expect to be on the first page, when you are competing with people who have lots of money to hire professionals to keep building their sites and get there first. If you offer something completely unique and theres not many other companies like it, then you might be on googles first page. But not likely. You can use services like Google Adwords to advertise. p.s. for free ways to advertise, you can make educational videos about your product, and be sneaky about advertising it. For example, lets say I sell acne products. I might make a video where I talk about ways to get rid of acne, and I might mention a product in that video and tell people which website carries that product (my website). This is free since you can make videos using pictures and a cheap microphone to narrate it and a free program like windows movie maker. Make a video, then upload it to all the major video sites, and use it to send people to your website. I was a powerseller on ebay last year and became fed up. It took awhile but Im finally able to make money on my own sites now after many months of setting them up and advertising. You can do it, it just wont be easy.

Well, if you want to create an e-commerce website by your own you must learn HTML, CSS and PHP at least and probably JavaScript, Ajax. You should know how to work with Photoshop and Dreamweaver software at least. All this takes time and effort. You can have your website made for you by professional web design agency. I personally can recommend this one www ... (their prices comparatively affordable and they have huge experience). But this method requires investments. As for the question about Google, you may search for "Adsense" in Google.

Hi, the best way is to you a self-build website like SitesPlus www.sitesplus.co.uk . You can include 200 products in the standard cost and it is already linked to PayPal. It's £12.99 a month and includes the hosting, email and loads of support. With reference to Google, the key is to make sure you have the words (keyword phrases) that you want people to find you from Google, in your text. Be specific, as people who are searching on specific brand types (including make and model nos) are much more likely to be at the buying phase of their research. There's loads more to learn about Google (updates, backlinks etc) but in essence, that's the key. Hope that helps
