how long does a merchant have to process a Visa transaction?

I made a major purchase on April 1,2009, as of today my visa has still not been charged, I called my bank and they said that there has not been any activity on the account since january 09. Does anyone know if there is a time limit on processing a purchase.

As a merchant my contract is not with Visa, it's with my bank (or rather the CC processing subsidiary of my bank). In my contract there is no such specified time limit. There is a limit imposed, of course, by the expiry date on the card.
