Question

support for small business?

Is there any agency or department that helps or encourages or even helps with their problems against big corporations in the USA. I own a small kiosk in a mall that sells Cell Phone Accessories. I am surrounded by T-mobile and Verizon and Sprint and At&t. By surrounded I mean directly right next to all of them. Now 2 of the providers are complaining to mall management that I should not be in front of them they want me to move. The other 2 providers tell customers that my product is not the same quality or it will damage their device if they don't use a company branded product. Which is all not true. The mall management has supported me so far but they have no choice because I signed a 10 month lease. I am afraid when my lease is over they will move me. Its simple I am their competition and they want me out. One more thing most of my product is different from what they sell but I have more variety so customers buy from me. Is there any agency or formal complaint I can file to have them stop bothering me. Can there be a law suit also??

Not much can be done, but you can fight a little dirty... Try signs saying "Don't be ripped off!" Or "Chad's buddies and Katherine Zeta Jones cost YOU more than this sign." Point out that all those funny ads on TV and the internet are paid for by their customers. Your prices are lower because you have less rent than the big stores. There was a book called "Guerrilla Marketing," by a man who fought all types of competition by paying for advertising on bus stops in front of his rivals stores. He has lots of ideas of challenging the big guys will little or no cost. Check your public library to see if they have it or can get for you. I think the author's last name was Kaplan, but I am not positive. The Small Business Administration might also have some advice.
